Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good+. First. A near fine copy in purple cloth with silver and black titles on spine Slight fading at spine top and slight soiling on ends, but otherwise excellent Text is clean and unmarked Unclipped DJ has minor soiling and edgewear, but otherwise excellent as well Inscribed by Perelman "For J B Sincerely S J Perelman" on rear end paper, upside down I have seen at least one other example where Perelman signed at the rear rather than the typical ffep or title page It's not clear whether it was simply that someone handed him the book upside down, or was done from his impish sense of humor 224 pp.
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. A rare signed 1st printing of Perelman's 1977 classic -- a collection of richly humorous pieces that mostly had appeared in "Travel and Leisure" magazine. Perelman has signed the FFEP in the top right corner, in bold fountain pen. The FFEP also has an owner's name and address, and the inside of the front cover has a gift inscription in a different hand. There is no dust jacket; the book itself is highly presentable -- boards are a tiny bit bowed, and there is some foxing and light staining on the page edges. Signed by Author(s).

Hardcover. Condition: Near fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. First Edition. Inscribed by Perelman to "Elizabeth" on the title page. A pair of pencil notations suggest the "Elizabeth" in question is Elizabeth Taylor, with whom Perelman worked on the glamour documentary Elizabeth Taylor's London (1963). The bookplate of director and producer George Cukor appears on the front pastedown. A collection of 22 short pieces from The New Yorker, Travel & Leisure, and other magazines, and Perelman's first since his return to New York after temporarily relocating to England. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good Minus. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Stated 'Second printing.' Flat-signed by S.J. Perelman on the front end paper. You can see the covers in the photos. There are a few spots of soiling on the covers. There is also some toning off the rear top edge and on the spine. The lettering on the spine is bright. There is a little wear at the spine ends, some crinkling and a tiny bit of rubbing. There are clear bump/creases at the two bottom corners, a minor one at the rear top corner. The cover edges look very good, no rubbing, one tiny and shallow dent at the rear top one. The cover corners have a little bit of crinkling from the bumps, but no rubbing or rub-through. The top page edge has a maroon topstain. It looks very good. I don't see any stains on the middle and bottom page edges. The book is solidly bound from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout and nicely tight covers as well. The white inside covers and end papers are very clean, one speck on the front inside cover. In general, the pages are quite clean as well. I turned over each and every one. I counted a total of 8 little spots, most of them specks, over the first 15 or 20 pages. Over all the rest of the pages I counted around the same small number, none of them conspicuous. I did discover a 1/2 inch tear off the top edge of page 135-136, not reaching near to the print. At the same top edge there are four teeny tiny losses with depths no more than 1/16th or 1/32nd of an inch. They look like little nicks, but you can see that each has a smidge of loss. The pages before and after are fine. The bump at the bottom corner of the front cover did create a tiny crease just above the bottom corners of the first few pages. After that it goes on to look more like a very slight semi-crease. The bump at the rear bottom corner of the cover created a small crease above the tips of the bottom corners of a good number of the later pages. As you go more toward the middle pages it resembles more of a light crinkle. All of these tiny creases are obviously very far from the print. Below some of the top corners you can see a very light semi-crease, actually you can see them only on the rear side of the pages. Again, very far from the print. I didn't see any placeholder creases. There are no markings in the book. No attachments of any kind. And Mr. Perelman's signature represents the only writing to be found anywhere. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. It is in very nice condition, particularly taking into account the year the book was published. I don't see any conspicuous soiling. I have the jacket in a fitted protective cover. There may be a small, thin closed tear off the front top edge, unless it's a scratch. There is a little bit of scuffing off the top and bottom edges of the spine. There is a fairly small tear off the bottom edge of the spine, and you can see the scratch below the author's name on the spine. There is a small spot of rubbing at the top corner of the front cover. There is a little chip off the top edge of the rear cover, and there is one little, thin closed tear off the bottom edge of the rear cover. You can judge everything for yourself by looking at the photos. The flaps are also quite clean. I don't see any edge tears on. The jacket is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all. From the jacket: 'The spiral of S.J. Perelman's popularity is mounting steadily. First a cult, then a following and now a clamoring public demands more and more of his lampoons and hilarious inventions. Keep It Crisp is a gem of humor and satirical burlesque. In it he twits everything in sight-- the movies, advertising, pulp magazines, books, newspapers, publishers, socialites, and, above all, himself. As exhilarating as a ride on a roller-coaster, as heady as a mint-julep, Keep It Crisp is warranted to keep you chuckling with pleasure.' Frank Muir, a British expert on comic writing, lauded Perelman as the best American comic author of all time in his Oxford Book of Humorous Prose. Signed by Author(s).
