Nägele (1856-1936) war von 1889-1919 Gymnasialprofessor in Tübingen und 1888/89 Gründungsmitglied des Schwäbischen Albvereins. 1895 wurde er von der Reichs-Limes-Kommission zum Streckenkommissar auf württembergischem Boden berufen und grub ein Jahr später das Kastell Waldmössingen aus. Er gehörte auch zu den Mitbegründern des Württembergischen Jugendherbergswerkes, eines Vorläufers des Deutschen Jugendherbergswerkes. 1907-12 war er Landtagsabgeordneter der Deutschen Volkspartei.
