Present here are:The vanishingly scarce first edition of the 1820 work 'A Review of the Principles of Radical Reformers, and the Measures which they have Proposed for a Reform in Parliament', a thirty-four page discussion of Radical politics, and the French Revolution.The vanishingly scarce 1830 first edition of Colin Mackenzie's 'Letter to the Right Hon. Robert Peel, Secretary of State for the Home Department: Containing thoughts on the Inexpediency of Abolishing Seisin in Scotland'. He presents an argument against abolishing the law of possession of land by freehold. Retaining the original half title.George Rose's scarce work 'A Brief Examination into the Increase of the Revenue, Commerce & Navigation of Great-Britain During the Administration of The Rt. Hon. William Pitt'. Retaining the original half title, and with four folding tables. Collated, complete.The 1806 sixth edition, with additions, of Henry Brougham, 1st Baron Brougham and Vaux's 'An Inquiry into the State of the Nation, at the Commencement of the Present Administration', a fascinating insight into early nineteenth century politics.Retaining the half title, with an extensive appendix.The scarce first edition of Joseph Lane's response to Brougham's work, 1806's 'An Answer to the Inquiry into the State of the Nation'. Lane exposes the 'replete fallacies' found in Brougham's 'Inquiry'.Retaining the half title.And finally, Peter Pangloss's very scarce 1820 work 'A New Favorite Royal Alphabet for the 17th of August', an alphabetically arranged poetical work. Preceded by two leaves of advertisements.With the bookplate of Sir John Stuart Hepburn Forbes, 8th Baronet, of Monymusk, of Fettercairn and Pitsligo, to the front pastedown. He was a Scottish baronet, landowner, advocate and agriculturalist.With Forbes's inscription to the head of Rose's work, 'State of the Nation', and 'An Answer'. In a half calf binding, with marbled paper covered boards. Rubbing to joints, and to back strip head and tail. Front hinge strained, but firmly held. Bookplate to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally clean and bright, but with handling marks to half titles, which are age toned. Former owner's inscription to head of title pages of three works.
