Condition: Good. 1946. First Edition. 146 pages. Blue pictorial dust jacket over beige pictorial cloth. Pages are lightly tanned at the edges, with light foxing. Binding has remained firm. Boards have slight shelf with bumping to corners. Spine ends are a little crushed with light tanning. Light wear to unclipped dust jacket with tears, nicks and creases to spine, edge and corners. Moderate tanning to spine and edges. Protected by plastic wrapper.

A slightly tongue in cheek cook book for a Britain still struggling with wartime rationing. Recipes for 'Fish Left-overs, Eel in Green Sauce, Tongue in Rich Sauce, Baked Spaghetti with Tomatoes' and many such delights, illustrated with Victor Ross's satirical lithographs. Quite a scarce book.

Board margins and endpapers are a little browned o/w contents clean and sound. Wrapper is browned, chipped and worn and lacks portion from top margin of front cover, slightly affecting text.

Early gift inscription, else fine in very good or better dust jacket with a couple of small stains on the front panel and shallow chipping at extremities. Interestingly, the jacket is printed on the verso of a 1944 War Office map of Germany, presumably because of a post-War paper shortage.
