This literary relic was also monumental in European literature around the 1200s. Though these 2 volumes are translated from Latin for the first time in 100 years into modern Danish, they still retain the Latin originalÆs rhetorical splendor. Volume one explores Danish history from the beginning from Dan to Gorm the Old (the first ruling king). You will find legends of people and gods like King Skjold and Rolf Krake and about Balder, H°der, Odin and much more. The 2nd volume begins in the Viking age with Harald Bluetooth and the conversion to Christianity. The 2nd volume ends in the 1180Æs in the tumultuous times of great conquests and bloody civil wars.
