Hardcover. Condition: Good. A significant 16th century history of the world, famously revised and expanded by the Reformer Philipp Melanchthon)whose portrait appears on the title page) and Casper Peucer. Date not given but good conjecture due to binding and publisher. This volume is 'Pars Prima (Part One) concluding with the era of Charlemagne. Text in Latin. Bound in contemporary blind-tooled vellum. The covers feature intricate roll-tooled borders characteristic of German Renaissance binding. Boards show expected age wear and rubbing. Internal block remains firm, light marginal worming (small pinpricks) consistent with age. Light to moderate water staining to front endpapers. Contemporary Latin inscription inside front. Title page with bottom corner torn. A handsome, scholarly copy from the heart of the Reformation printing trade in Wittenberg. See photographs and please contact for more information.
