Cloth. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: None. 1st. Cloth w/paper label, 45 pp. Copy "J" of 50c. with colored frontis, case-bound in pure unbleached linen. Finely printed. Peyton was sailing from New Orleans to Florida in 1773 when seized by the Spanish, landed at "Rio del Norte", marched to Santa Fe, eventually escaped & traveled overland to St. Louis. The letters, written in May 1774, describe these events.

HARDCOVER. Condition: Good. Numbered copy number 3 of 350 at Colophon. Green linen has light spill spots and rubs on back along and on spine, with a 1.5 inch tear on back spine. A bit of foxing noted on a few pages. Hinge shaken at rear but binding solid, pages crisp and clean, no other markings found. Green linen covered boards have light scuffs and rubs. Extremities lightly bumped with minimal tip wear.
