Full Calf. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. 12mo. 15 by 10.5 cm. Leaves, as opposed to pages, are numbered, and they are thus: 10 (this is for the intro, and here most of the leaves are not numbered), 50, 67. Frontis and title of first work heavily soiled, with the level of soil tapering off over next two to three leaves, after which it is more occasional and lighter when encountered, until the final page of this work and the facing title of the second work, which are both considerably stained, although quite a bit less than the first title, after which the leaves again are soiled more occasionally. The first title and the following leaf with paper repairs on right edge. The tape used is noticeable, yet the repair was done with some finesse. One leaf of the first work's intro has a small hole that resembles a burn hole around its edge, and with minor loss to text on both sides. Some ancient inked marginal notes and scribbles in ink -- these we would consider an asset to the book. Also ancient ownership inscriptions, one from 1664. On FFEP, a fairly long, neat cursive note signed by a W. Ford. The note appears to be something of a bookseller's description. In the upper corner of the same page the Ford name is written again in a tiny scrawl with the date of 1806 and a price. Again, this seems a plus to the item. Modern full calf binding but older spine label preserved and mounted onto spine.
