Filippo Melantone (nome grecizzato di Philipp Schwarzerd - in tedesco "terra nera", 1497 - 1560) fu umanista e teologo, sostenitore delle idee luterane, giocò un ruolo di primo piano nel sistema di mediazione delle ideologie riformate. Antiche annotazioni manoscritte al verso dell'ultimo foglio di testo del primo tomo. Alcuni aloni sparsi. Ottimo esemplare in preziosa legatura coeva con interessante iconografia simbolica. Enclosed handwritten note of unclear origin and date (to this reader, anyway). Fw directed to Joachim von Anhalt dated 1 January 1554 and binding year 1555 (see later) suggests that the printing year is 1554. If so this could be printed in Wittemberg.
