Ships in box from the USA, quickly & w/care. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ SYNOPSIS & HISTORY: A French language edition, the 1959 Petit Larousse Centenary Edition represents a landmark moment in French lexicographical history and graphic design. Directed by Claude and Paul Auge, this complete overhaul of the classic reference work expands to 1,814 pages with 5,130 black-and-white text illustrations, 114 maps, and 48 pages of color plates. The volume retains the famous 'pages roses' pink pages containing Latin and foreign-language quotations and features maps, historical figures, and classical drawings documenting mid-century French education and global knowledge. Bound in tan linen cloth under the iconic bright yellow dust jacket featuring the mid-century modern Semeuse (dandelion-blower) emblem designed by master artist Jean Picart le Doux. Jean Picart le Doux (1902-1982), who designed the covers, was a central figure in the mid-century French modern tapestry renaissance a master painter, illustrator, and tapestry artist whose work gives this edition its distinctive visual identity. Claude Auge (1854-1924) and Paul Auge (1881-1951) were the primary editorial forces that standardized the Larousse lexicographical program, making French language and global encyclopedia entries accessible to the general public. Jean Picart le Doux (illustrator).

Condition: Gut. - G. Pommeranz-Liedtke. (Vorwort) Sprache: Deutsch Gewicht in Gramm: 550 Fadengehefteter Originalpappband.
