A PROPOS : Pierre Henri Cami (1884-1958), né Pierre Louis Adrien Charles Henry Cami, est un humoriste français. Son père, Charles Cami est un voyageur de commerce aux affaires. C'est…dans un milieu bourgeois et confortable que grandissent Pierre Henri et ses trois soeurs. Au lycée de Pau, Pierre Henri se montre un élève médiocre. À 15 ans, il écrit des poésies qu'il signe Kami. Il veut devenir matador. Son père voyant cette vocation d'un mauvais oeil s'ingénie à la contrarier. Cami entame sa carrière comique par le truchement du bulletin des pompes funèbres, "Le Petit Corbillard illustré". Humoriste, caricaturiste, auteur de pièces de théâtre de romans, de dessins, collaborateur de plusieurs journaux comme "Le journal", fondé par Alphonse Allais, ou encore "L'Illustration" qui publie "La semaine camique", Cami, "Le plus gai des béarnais", est l'inventeur de personnages fantasques : Loufock Holmés, César Rikiki ou encore le Baron de Crac. Charlie Chaplin dit de lui qu'il est "le plus grand humoriste in the world" et Jacques Prévert qui, à l'instar de Roland Topor ou Jean-Jacques Pauvert et Raymond Devos, est au nombre de ses admirateurs, propose le terme de "camisard" pour désigner ses admirateurs. Il est le fondateur de l'Académie de l'humour et sera lauréat en 1953 du Grand Prix d'Humour International. Cami meurt dans l'anonymat à 74 ans, à son domicile dans le XVIIIe arrondissement de Paris.

Lufock Holmes, grottesco dell'«investigatore deduttivo», crede tanto nel ragionamento e nel potere delle parole, e nella logica stabilita che ne deriva, che logica, parole e ragionamenti gli esplodono tra le mani, con fragore, per la forza interna della loro compressa ambiguità. E una specie di suspense si crea nella ripida attesa dello scoppio, al punto che tra il «voilà!» e il «SIPARIO» con cui si chiude ciascun racconto, verrebbe di aggiungere un «(risate)». Book.
