Etwas schwierigere Abschnitte und solche, die vom Leser ausgelassen werden können, ohne daß er den roten Faden verliert, stehen im Kleindruck. In der Bezeichnungsweise habe ich mich im wesentlichen an die üblichen Normen gehalten. Eine Aumahme ist die Bezeichnung U für den Betrag des Geschwindig keitsvektors; die normgerechte Bezeichnung v habe ich nicht gewählt, weil ich die Ge schwindigkeitskomponenten, wie in der theoretischen Hydrodynamik oft üblich, mit u, v, w bezeichne. Für den Impuls benutze ich das Symbol I statt p, um Verwechslungen mit dem sehr oft vorkommenden Symbol p fUr den Druck zu vermeiden. In dieses Buch sind viele Erfahrungen eingegangen, die ich während meiner Tätigkeit im Max-Planck-Institut fUr Strömungsforschung und in der Aerodynamischen Versuchsan stalt in Göttingen sammeln konnte.
