Condition: Very Good Plus. Vintage pocket-sized tabloid magazines featuring articles, news, celebrity gossip, with some scandal, sports, film, music, sometimes crosswords or cartoons, all with pinup photography throughout. The selling point was, generally speaking, the person or situation on the front cover, often a scantily clad celebrity or model who might also be found in a layout or centerfold inside. Usually all covers (front, front inside, rear inside, rear) were full-page photos, b/w with color or simply b/w. Desirable issues usually include any with Marilyn Monroe or Bettie Page, or artists like Bill Ward. Pocket-size magazines enjoyed a brief spotlight in the 1950s, after the Second World War and the coincidence with mass market publishing, stuffing the shirt pockets of soldiers, and many of the early titles continued from newspaper-size tabloids popular before the paper conservation period. Present issues complete: March 1957, April 1957, May 1957 (Volume 6, Nos. 3, 4, 5). Bunny Yeager, Iris Bristol, Judy O'Day, Penny Duncan, Dell paperback reviews, Hagglund, Dick Weinert, centerfolds. First printings, stapled softcover 12mo, 15c cover prices, 64pp, color wraps. Very Good Plus overall, light rubbing, toning and faint foxing, a few small tears or creases.
