I have a number of Geological Survey Professional Papers that examine what happened as a result of the March 27, 1964 Earthquake that hit Alaska. This will be the second of them: Paper 543-I- "Tectonics of the March 27, 1964 Alaska Earthquake, by George Plafker. There were six volumes to this series describing the regional effects of the Earthquake on the affected area in Alaska. This book discusses: ".crustal deformation- including warping, horizontal distortion, and faulting--over probably more than 110,000 square miles of land and sea bottom in south-central Alaska." It was published by the United States Government Printing Office in Washington, D.C. dated 1969. Please see the photos of the Table of Contents which also lists the illustrations-- plates, figures and tables. The two maps mentioned in the list of plates are indeed contained in a pocket on the rear endpaper. It was bound for an exploration services company which subsequently diaccessioned it. Condition: This book is in near fine condition. There are really no blemishes or wear to the book. It has a bookplate label of the exploration company on the front endpaper (which has an "x" across it and a card pocket at the rear. The only loan activity reflected on the card was that of the company that bound it as a hard cover. There are few specks of dried glue opposite the card pocket.
