Tiré à par…t extrait du XXXIVe volume des Mémoires de la Société des Antiquaires du Centre (4e de la 2e Série). Envoi autographe signé à l'encre sur le faux-titre, adressé à un « ami » désigné comme « bon Antiquaire en horlogerie », avec signature de l'auteur. Mathieu Planchon (1842-1921) fut un horloger et historien de l'horlogerie renommé, connu pour son expertise dans les pièces anciennes et les restaurations historiques. Il fit son apprentissage auprès de son père, travailla plusieurs années chez d'autres horlogers dont Robert-Houdin, puis s'installa à son compte au Palais Royal en 1890. Érudit aux curiosités multiples, il publia également des études sur les arts décoratifs, dont ce tiré à part consacré au verre filé — technique de modèle à la pince de baguettes de verre ramollies, associée notamment aux ateliers de Nevers. La présence d'un envoi autographe signé en fait un exemplaire d'une rareté et d'un intérêt bibliophilique particuliers.
