Extra shipping charges will be applied to ensure safe delivery. Original owner. This poster was purchased in the fall of 1980 in Calgary at Sound Swap. This is an original poster for the canceled 1980 Hammersmith Odeon Plasmatics concert in London. Here is the story. The Greater London Council (GLC) banned the band's August 8th, 1980, Hammersmith Odeon appearance on the night of the concert for fire safety reasons, but not before a few dozen posters for the show were already printed and put up. The posters across London were taken down and most were likely destroyed. Before the ban, a few posters were sold to North American distributors who offered them to import record stores. This is one of those extremely rare copies. A second edition of the poster was issued with the word BANNED printed on them and they were folded and inserted into a limited number of UK (SEEZ 24) and US (USE 9) copies of the band's first LP New Hope for the Wretched. Every copy of the Hammersmith Odeon concert poster currently for sale online with the word BANNED on it is therefore a second edition copy that came with limited editions of the band's debut LP sold in the US and the UK. Most copies of the second edition are faded, having been hung up on walls. This poster does not have any fading. You can see the difference in the image. The poster on the left side of the image is the Green Oak copy which has brighter colors while the second edition photo on the right has faded. There is no doubt that over the last 45 years, many of the original concert posters have been lost or destroyed. This is therefore one of the rarest pieces of Plasmatics memorabilia you will find. Own a piece of rare punk rock history before it is gone forever.
