The Ludwig collection was sold en bloc to the Getty Museum via Zeitlin & Ver Brugge Booksellers. It was the largest private sale of a book collection at the time. This catalog is the primary reference on this remarkable collection. Dustjackets with very light wear along edges. Blocks age-toned along edges, not affecting images.

Paul Getty Museum in Malibu verkauft wurde. Mit mehrzeiliger handschriftlicher Widmung und Unterschrift des Sammlerehepaares Irene und Peter Ludwig (dat. Aachen, zum 10. IV. 1986) auf dem 2. Vordervorsatz von Band 1 und auf dem 1. Vordervorsatz von Band 3 - wer von beiden die (von einer Hand geschriebenen) Widmungen geschrieben hat, ist für mich allerdings nicht ersichtlich.

Von 1962 bis… 1997 war Anton von Euw Konservator am Schnütgen-Museum in Köln, zunächst als wissenschaftlicher Referent, ab 1970 in der Funktion des Stellvertreters des Museumsdirektors. Seit seiner Habilitation an der Universität zu Köln 1970 hielt er Vorlesungen, Seminare und Übungen über mittelalterliche Kunstgeschichte. 1972 wurde er zum außerplanmäßigen Professor ernannt. Von Euw verfasste grundlegende Publikationen, insbesondere zur mittelalterlichen Buchkunst.
