Unknown and unique state of the posthumous issue of Encinas' translation of a selection from Plutarch's parallel Lives. Francis of Enzinas (Burgos, 1518? Strasbourg, 1552), was a notable Protestant humanist, known primarily for his Spanish version of the New Testament (1543). El Burgal had conceived an ambitious project, the Officina Hispanica, which would be responsible for disseminating in Romance language both Greco-Latin works and biblical texts. To this end he worked with the leading Central European printers and booksellers. Thus, during his stay as Professor of Greek at Cambridge (1548-1549), he contacted Arnold Birkmann, who showed keen interest in the dissemination of the Spanish book in Europe in the face of its growing demand. In 1550-1552, the last years of his life, Enzinas settled with his family in Strabus.
