The front of the envelope has postage stamps with… Christchruch postmarks dated 26 January 1956. The rear of the envelope has a Campbell lsland postmark dated 24 February 1956. This copy signed by George Poppleton in blue ink on the title page. x, 233, [1 (blank)] pages + folding colour frontispiece map. Illustrated card covers. Page dimensions: 240 x 172mm. Colour and black-and-white photographic illustrations. "Text taken principally from diaries written during three years spent as Expedition Leader on Campbell Island from late 1955 to late 1960.' - page ii.
