Hardcover. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. This is a very interesting Victorian photograph album from Postlip Hall, Winchecombe, in Gloucestershire, dated 1887, it contains seventy eight original photos of the family, house, and scenes on the estate, plus a few others of different places. The majority of the photos measure 8 inches by 6 inches, some as large as 12 inches by 9 inches approx. With photos of estate farm workers, the house, scenes of cutting trees, horse drawn carts, horses, and various views etc The second half of the book has been used as a scrapbook with cuttings on Queen Victoria, dignitaries, members of Royal Families, Military men etc And loosely inserted at the rear are a series of six original drawings dating from 1827 to 1890 The album is a large folio format measuring 14.5 inches tall approx. The albums covers are stained and marked with fading and bubbling to the cloth, splits along spine. Internally there is a dark burnt like stain along the top inner edges of pages that gets smaller on each successive page, and mostly disappears a third of the way into the book, it only just touches the top corners of a few of the photos There are a few pages that have come loose from the album It is very noticeable that pages have been removed from the end of the album, All the contents are pictured, so condition and content can be seen Despite the obvious signs of wear and removal of some pages this remains a fascinating and important record of the area in the late Victorian period WITH SEVENTY-EIGHT MOSTLY LARGE FORMAT ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPHS. This is a large heavy book, Overseas shipping costs will be slightly higher than the basic standard quote for a one kilo book.
