    Couverture rigide. Condition: Très bon. Edition originale. Pleine basane de l'époque, dos lisses. Trois volumes in-8 (195x125 mm), xvi-493 pages / (4)-552 pages / xvi-248 pages. Coins émoussés. Petit accident à la coiffe de queue du tome I. Papier avec quelques roussseurs et quelques cahies roussis au tome II. Première édition en français. Percivall Pott (1714-1788), était chirurgien anglais, spécialisé dans le traitement des hernies. Il est notamment le premier à décrire les hernies congénitales. La majeure partie de ces Oeuvres chirurgicales est d'ailleurs consacrée à la description et au traitement des différentes hernies. Le troisième et dernier tome est paru quinze ans après les deux premiers, en 1792 chez Barrois. Le traducteur voulant compléter les Oeuvres après la mort de Pott (dont il fait une courte biographie en préliminaire). On trouve dans ce dernier volume la description de la courbure de l'épine, qui sera appelée Mal de Pott (spondylodiscite due à une tuberculose osseuse). Percivall Pott (1714-1788), was an English surgeon specializing in the treatment of hernias. He is notably the first to describe congenital hernias. The major part of these surgical works is moreover devoted to the description and the treatment of the various hernias. The third and last volume was published fifteen years after the first two, in 1792 by Barrois. The translator wishing to complete the Works after the death of Pott (of which he made a short biography in preliminary). We find in this last volume the description of the curvature of the spine, which will be called Pott'disease (tuberculous arthritis of the intervertebral joints).
