Mauberley", and other early poems rejected by the author and omited from his collected edition. ***Very good in light-green cloth-covered boards with gilt titles to the spine. The boards are quite clean - just a light ring-mark to the front board and some uneven fading. The spine is quite browned and the titles have faded. No tears to the cloth, and no serious bumps or creases. Corners very slightly creased. Top edge of the page block stained black by the publisher. Fore-edge of the page block rough-cut. Internally near fine with a neat ownership name 'E. Hutchinson' and date 'Sept. 1932' to the top of the front free endpaper. Clean pages with no annotations. No chips, tears or creases. No foxing. Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. No Jacket. 1st Edition. A lovely association copy of an important Pound publication, Selected Poems, Faber & Gwyer, 1928, with an introduction by T. S. Eliot. Louis Untermeyer was an American poet, critic, and editor. Indiana University Press published EP to LU in 1963, a collection of 9 letters from Pound to Untermeyer from 1914 to 1931. Spine very slightly faded; slight browning to endpapers and pastedowns with an unfortunate piece of partial newspaper to ffep; overall a very attractive book.

First edition, first impression, trade issue; 8vo; Poetry Bookshop sticker at base of front paste down, very mild toning to page stock, lightly spotting to the endpapers; publisher's green cloth, titles to spine gilt, green topstain, trivial fading to cloth at the very tips of the spine in the somewhat tanned and lightly chipped dust-jacket. In his capacity as publisher this is Eliot's homage to his friend and editor - a crucial publication in Pound's career. The jacket is particularly prone to wear - the present example being for nicer than most. Faber also issued an edition of 100 signed copies.

A substantial collection of Pounds essays and literary criticism, covering three decades. According to Gallup, Faber & Faber printed 5,000 sets of sheets for New Directions; 2,000 of them were bound in 1954, 1,000 in 1956, another 1,000 in 1961, and the remaining 748 copies in 1966.
