The first part of this work is a revision of the old family of Celleporidae Busk. A careful study of the zoecial features leads to a new classification partly adopting the one proposed ba S. F. Harmer in 1957. We finally have six families: the Celleporariidae, the Celleporinidae and the Kleidionellidae had beenimplicitly accepte…d for several years. The Hippoporidridae family, contested by many writers, in fact has as much value as the previous ones. The Dysnoetoporidae equally depend on the cellepores group. Finally the old family of the "Celleporidae" is kept only for species with ill defined features. We have proposed the creation of two subgenera: Sinuporaria, a subgenus of Celleporaria, Sinuporina, a subgenus of Celleporina; they stress on characteristic of the peristome and are equivalent to the genus Hamerella Lagaaij which has become a subgenus of Turbicellepora. After this restatement which is very general since it includes species either fossil or of the present and this in their geographical world distribution, we have studied more particularly the tertiary and quaternary species in the main European basins. 46 species have been described among which five are new. Biological considerations concerning the association of certain species with a coral or with a hermit-crab are outlined in this study. Other remarks dealing with the ecological order are shown as well. The second part of this work is a specific study of some population of Cellepores in the Burdigalian Rhône basin. The study is mainly concerned with the Mus locality and the comparison made with those from Taulignan (Valréas basin). The restatement of a method for quantitative studies of the fauna in the unconsolidated sediments has been our essential purpose. Despite its imperfections the technique used led us to interesting paleoecological conclusions. New taxa: Sinuporina n. subgen., Sinuporina n. subgen., Celleporaria musensis n. sp., Celleporaria (Sinuporaria) reussi n. sp., Turbicellepora davidi n. sp., Celleporina bugei n. sp., Celleporina minuscula n. sp. 266 pp., 19 pls, 43 figs, 5 tabs, br. 4.
