The blue cloth covered book has gilt titling on the spine and a gilt embossed emblem on the front board. It is clean and tight. On the inside front board there is the name of a previous owner . There are a few annotations in the margins and lying loose there are the obituaries of both Editors. The boards have modest rubbing with a little wear at the edges and corners, a little more pronounced at the spine end corners. Full leather boards and spine. Spine gilt is pretty much faded, front cover gilt still pretty good. Gutter split at the dedication page, contents page is loose but present, first few pages have a little chipping and wrinkling mostly near the foredge. I found just a few pencil notes throughout, not many. The book is solid and pretty tight for 1880. About 15 pages or so of advertising at the back. ; Vol. 1.
