Hardcover. Condition: New. 1st Edition. An IAS officer's must-read anecdotal account of how official karma prevails over personal dharma.' - Y.V. Reddy, former RBI governor India is famous for Jim Corbett's tales of hunting man-eaters in the Kumaon region. Equally fascinating are the tiger hunting tales that senior bureaucrats recount, of achievements real and imagined, when they look back on their career. K. Pradeep Chandra has many stories of this kind to tell, and for those interested in the IAS, they are of immense use. From a career that spanned thirty-four years, there are examples of fighting corruption, ignorance and casteism. There are also problems that defy solution - an old woman whose insistence on division of land results in a tragedy, an attempt to find an acceptable solution to ownership of shifting lanka (island) lands in Rajahmundry. And there is a taut chapter on a prolonged negotiation with naxalites when lives of fellow officers are at stake; a lesson that a course book may not offer. Pradeep Chandra also shares about the challenges of working with powerful politicians like N.T. Rama Rao, Chandrababu Naidu and K. Chandrasekhar Rao. At the beginning of his career, his father had told him, 'If you can make a concrete difference in the lives of 100 poor people, you would have some meaning in your life.' As the author discovered, this was perhaps the hardest thing to accomplish, and what gave his work the truest value. (jacket).…

It will help the insuring company to take responsibility and minimise any risks of the company declining to take obligations. Most workers have an inclination of declining to accept medical treatment until the organization acknowledges the obligation. Manufacturing companies should give guarantees that their employees have medical protection cover in order to provide for their medical costs. Most employees have experienced absence of standard security and directions for well-being in their organization. An organization should also be completely conforming to standard well-being and security tenets to minimize hazards at the work place. Representatives should also be instructed to look for medical care immediately after an accident happens and refrain from accepting any delay, as such a delay by an employee to seek medical treatment usually dents a blow to his or her quest to receive health insurance claims from the insurance provider.…

Hardcover. Condition: New. 1st Edition. This book contains some fascinating anecdotes and a wonderful collection of photographs, spanning several decades. The story of Abhishek, the only son of Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan, is captured in great depth and detail by the author-cum-photographer, Pradeep Chandra. The urge to know more about a person like him propelled me to write this book, shares Chandra. But, along with me, my camera, too, is equally drawn to Abhishek. He is an interesting subject because he displays a plethora of emotions without any hesitation. I have been clicking him since he was a kid. This special pictorial biography brings to life the many facets of the actor, highlighting the different roles he plays. Rugged masculine looks, style and charm are part of the persona of a star, an actor, a celebrity. Yet Abhishek is a man of many milestones, in areas as diverse as movies, sports and business.…
