Hard Cover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Inga (illustrator). First Edition. Probably first state binding, with gold printing on the spine (rather than orange, This copy is inscribed to long-time fan, Hugo Award winner and free-speech hero Earl Kemp by de Camp. The fragile jacket is in better shape than many copies, with a few small chips missing from the spine -- the front flap is (very cleanly) separated from the body of the jacket, and there are signs of rubbing on the front cover. The color added to the jacket is of a slightly different hue than the other copy we have available -- but Twayne had a history of variations in the jackets (I've seen several subtly different jackets on THE PETRIFIED PLANET, for example). The differences probably reflect nothing more than carelessness on the part of the printer. Inscribed By Author.

Hardcover. Inga Pratt (illustrator). First edition, first printing. Signed front endpaper as noted at Philcon '53, by Fletcher Pratt, L. Sprague de Camp, and Inga. Bound in original blue/green cloth with lettering in gilt. Just a hint of toning to the pages. George W. Earley's rocket and dinosaur bookplate on the front paste-down endpaper. George Earley was a science fiction fan, and reviewer of sf books from the 1940's into the 1990's. Modest fade to the cloth on the spine. Very good plus in a fine custom made dust jacket. Earley had a habit of making his own dust jackets for books without one. Signed by Author(s). Book.

First edition, "The Twayne Library of Modern Poetry".INSCRIBED TO INGA AND FLETCHER PRATT BY JOHN CIARDI ON THE FRONT ENDPAPER. "To Fletcher and Inga / in commemoration of services above and beyond the call of duty in bringing into the revolving universe the Ipsy-Wipsy Institute / John", followed by his drawing of what appears to be a tavern sign titled "IPSY UBER WIPSY" within a banner over the drawing of a heraldic shield containing the repeated word "Heliotrope" penned in a concentric circle.During the 1950's the Pratts were at the center of a lively literary community. They hosted meetings of science fiction writers who were members of the Hydra Club, and they purchased a 30 room home in Highlands New Jersey which they nicknamed the Ipsy-Wipsy Institute. There they entertained numerous writers including Ciardi, L. Sprague de Camp, Isaac Asimov, Frederik Pohl, Theodore Sturgeon, Bernard DeVoto and numerous others. Fletcher Pratt was an American author and Inga Pratt was an artist and book illustrator.
