Inscribed, dated, and signed by the author to Dudley Ashton, who is probably the individual who had a book published by Barnes. The author started working with his uncle, A. S. Barnes, at the age of sixteen and eventually became president of the company. Signed by Author(s).

An interesting history for those interested in the publishing field and its growth in nineteenth century America. Mild age toning and age soiling to covers, else a clean, square, fresh copy. Minor wear to tips, with the lower corner of the rear board bumped. No previous ownership marks. No writing, high-lighting or marginalia in text. Near very good. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
