Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. First Edition. SIGNED by the author on the title page and dated 10/24/1986. This comprehensive and carefully researched history of Avon Township in Oakland County, Michigan was originally written by the author in the summer of 1944 as her Master's thesis at the University of Colorado. Plans to publish it in 1945 fell through, and it remained unpublished until 1986 when the Avon HIstorical Preservation Committee undertook the publication. The township was renamed The City of Rochester Hills in 1984. Chapters have footnotes, and there is a Bibliography and appendicies in the rear. Bound in the orignal publisher's blue cloth covers with gilt spine lettering and with end paper maps. This is a nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings, no previous owner names, and no bookplates. Dust jacket in similarly nice condition with no chips, tears, or markings with the exception of a slight mark at edge of the front wrapper at the fold-over. Undoubtedly a first edition, but not stated as such. The dust jacket is now in a protective, removable, acetate cover. ; B&W Photos, Maps, and Illustrations; 8vo, 8"- 9" tall; 157 pages; Signed by Author.
