An den Mediziner Rudolf Rt. von Vivenot (1807-1884): Verzeihen Sie meine Zuschrift und die Bitte, die sie enthält, den wahrhaft poetischen Eindrucke, den Ihr Schützling - wie Sie wohl begreifen können - auf ein Dichtergemüth machte. Ich habe beiliegendes Gedicht geschrieben, welches die poetische Wahrheit dieser geweihten Künstlerin zu schildern versucht. Ich weiß, daß Frl. Lind Gedichte, gute u. unbedeutende, genug bekommen hat und bekommen wird, was ihr zuletzt nothwendig ganz gleichgiltig werden muß. Ich wünsche aber nicht mit jenen, Sängerinnen [besingenden o. ä.] Versekünstlern verwechselt zu werden, die ihre Zeilen zudringlich oft mit Nebenabsichten, keineswegs poetischer Art, dem mit den hiesigen Namen unbekannten Gaste zusenden. Ich übermittle daher Ihnen das Gedicht mit der freundlichen Bitte, der Künstlerin es mit der gütigen Bezeichnung, von wem es kommt, als Ausdruck meines innigsten Dankes zu überreichen [.]" (Br. v. 25. IV. 1846; ohne die erwähnte Beilage). - Prechtler war seit 1834 Beamter bei der Allgemeinen Hofkammer, wurde 1856 Nachfolger von Franz Grillparzer als Direktor des Hofkammerarchivs und trat 1866 wegen eines Augenleidens vorzeitig in den Ruhestand. Im Jahr darauf sah man ihn als Theaterdichter in München; einige seiner Dramen (so etwa Die Kronenwächter', 1844) wurden auch am Burgtheater aufgeführt. Des weiteren verfaßte Prechtler 38 Opernlibretti, darunter das Textbuch zu Johann Joseph Netzers Oper Mara' (1842). - Vivenot gründete 1848 den Konstitutionell-monarchistischen Verein"; als sich die angestrebte Gründung einer patriotischen Partei nicht verwirklichen ließ, zog er sich jedoch aus der aktiven Politik zurück. Seit 1868 Mitglied der Deutschen Akademie der Naturforscher Leopoldina, wurde er 1872 Vorsitzender des Komitees zur Gründung des Sophienspitals in Wien; daneben war Vivenot Direktor des Unterstützungsvereins für Witwen und Waisen des medizinischen Doktor-Collegiums. - In altem Sammlungsumschlag.

Prechtler hatte seit 1883 Gedichte im "Linzer Bürgerblatt" und Novellen und Reisebilder in verschiedenen Almanachen und Zeitungen veröffentlicht; 1849 hatte er die Zeitung "Der Patriot" redigiert. Nach seinem Austritt aus dem Staatsdienst war er ein Jahr lang als Theaterdichter in München tätig; einige seiner Dramen (darunter "Die Kronenwächter", 1844) wurden am Burgtheater gegeben, von seinen insgesamt 38 Opernlibretti wurde wohl das Textbuch zu Johann Joseph Netzers Oper "Mara" (1842) am bekanntesten.

[]"Von 1834 bis 1851 war er als Beamter bei der Hofkammer in Wien beschäftigt. Es folgte eine Tätigkeit von 1851 bis 1856 als Hilfsämterdirektor im Ministerium für Landeskultur und Bergbau und dann war er von 1856 bis zu seiner Pensionierung 1866 Archivdirektor im Finanzministerium des Kaiserreiches Österreich, als direkter Nachfolger von Franz Grillparzer, mit dem ihn eine lebenslange Freundschaft verband. Grillparzer war es auch, der ihm den jungen Tiroler Komponisten Josef Netzer vorstellte. Prechtler verfasste daraufhin das Libretto zu Netzers Oper Mara", die 1841 an der Wiener Hofoper mit großem Erfolg uraufgeführt wurde.Der Literat Prechtler war zu Lebzeiten vor allem als Dramatiker erfolgreich. Er schrieb Novellen, Reiseerinnerungen, gut 20 Dramen, 30 Opernlibretti und einige Bändchen mit Lyrik. Publizistisch war Prechtler auch für die Wiener Zeitung tätig.[2] Auch war er 1867/1868 Theaterdirektor in München.
