Original front printed paper board, lacks spine and back board. This 2nd or possibly 3rd edition has the plate as it includes "carving" from page 179 to the end and states the plates were engraved for this publisher both on carving. There is 6/7 pages of index lacking (ends at "G". "Gold web to spin for Sweetmeats") but should contain 215 pages according to the BL copy. And pages 81/82 (one leaf) have lost bottom 3rd with parts pf two recipes lost in part, page 83 had a closed tear at outer edge, all the book is foxed and pages browned/handled and one or two with old ink smudges, other age related faults, but all still in the uncut state as issued. Fully Collated and no missing leaves in the body of the book, just what is stated. Octavo. Fair only and sold as described or money back. SCARCE provincially printed work * NOTE: Two copies located from online searches both are held in the UK the British Library and the Wellcome Lbrary, others libraries in several university's seem to hold electronic examples only. The BL states they hold a 2nd edition of 1802, but the first was the same year? But the edition here is a revised work and extended by over 25 pages. A second edition copy of this work. The British Library and Oxford University hold copies dated 1802, following this the next imprint is this 1814. The colophon to this work is dated 1815 as called for. Illustrated, with a frontispiece and one plate. Collated, complete. To the preface it is noted that the recipes to this work are 'not carelessly copied from other similar work, but is really the fruit of twelve Years of valuable Experience, as Housekeeper in very respectable families, and Twenty Years of diligent practice, as a Confectioner and Instructor of Young Persons in this necessary domestic knowledge, in Sheffield; - the Author humbly hopes.'
