    Condition: Very good. - Octavo, softcover bound in printed light green wraps. There is some minor foxing & soiling to the binding. The spine & extremities are slightly darkened with a few tiny chips to the edges of the wraps. 26 pages plus 2-page publisher's catalog. Very good. First edition.Printed in Fraktur. The title translates as "Tuberculosis: Its Emergence and Prevention".George Sobernheim [1865-1963] was a German doctor and microbiologist specializing in bacteriology, infectious diseases and the associated vaccinations. He received a doctorate in pneumonia and pulmonary tuberculosis at the University of Berlin in 1891. During the First World War he took an active role as a senior physician in a field hospital. After his war service he accepted an appointment at the hygienic institute of the University of Bern, which made him a full professor in 1922 and later professor of hygiene and bacteriology. In addition to his work on tuberculosis, his research focused on anthrax and on such diseases as cholera, small pox and syphilis. He was widely recognized for his scientific monographs on immunity, vaccinations, anthrax, swine fever and spirochetes.
