Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - ProMosaik Children is an initiative of ProMosaik, founded by Milena Rampoldi in Istanbul. The editor-in-chief, Maria Traoré, a translator and teacher collaborates with ProMosaik Children and publishes children's books to promote intercultural dialogue.African folktales are a rich oral tradition used for entertainment, storytelling, and teaching moral lessons. Unlike Western fairy tales, they rarely end with the phrase 'they lived happily ever after'; instead, they often feature trickster animals (such as Anansi the spider), explain natural phenomena, and teach lessons about proper behaviour. The features of African folklore can be described as follows: African myths and legends span thousands of different ethnic groups, so their plots and characters are incredibly diverse. These stories often bring the forces of nature to life, explain the origins of humans or animals, and serve as important educational tools for the children listening to them or reading them. African fairy tales and fables are also full of humour and wisdom, and some stories touch on themes of survival and respect for the environment. Folktales were never intended merely to be read-they are a living art form with its own unique language, incorporating masks, music (percussion), and active audience participation. The objective pursued by ProMosaik Children is the diffusion of tales from Africa in Europe. Translation is very important in this project as it builds bridges between languages, cultures, and people. In this second volume we introduce folktales from Algeria in English.…

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - ProMosaik Children was founded by Milena Rampoldi in Istanbul in 2020. Its editor-in-chief, Maria Traoré, publishes children's books to promote intercultural dialogue. Fairy tales from the Philippines are a rich oral tradition, full of natural elements, spirits, and talking animals resulting in important moral teachings. And then there is the famous story of a lazy girl, the Legend of Piña. The story of Piña (Alamat ng Pinya) is a famous Filipino folktale about a lazy and spoiled girl named Piña, opposed to her hardworking mother. One day, a curse turns her into a pineapple with a thousand eyes. The tale teaches children to respect, listen to, and help their parents, because showing constant idleness and disobedience may result in unexpected outcomes.ProMosaik is convinced that through fairy tales like the ones included in this book children can learn intercultural competence and communication by looking at different communities and their tales.Fairy tales from all over the world are very important to affirm cultural pluralism and to learn cultural geography and moral lessons from other communities around the globe. This permits the creation of a society where racism and discrimination are completely overcome by intercultural competence developed from childhood in multicultural environments. Mariya Traore in her interview with Pressenza: 'I believe that ethnic and cultural differences are not an obstacle to peace. For the similarities are more than the differences. The differences can be highlighted constructively. But at the same time, they are positively overshadowed by the similarities due to the fact that we are all humans. If we look at the fairy tales that are told worldwide in all cultural traditions, in addition to the culture-specific differences, we notice huge intersections that help us find our way to a constructive and culturally diverse peace pedagogy. Topics related to interreligious dialogue can also be incorporated into peace education.'.…

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - ProMosaik Children was founded by Milena Aziza Rampoldi in Istanbul. The editor-in-chief, Maria Traoré, publishes children's books to promote intercultural dialogue. African folktales are a rich oral tradition used for entertainment, storytelling, and teaching moral lessons. They rarely end with the phrase 'they lived happily ever after'; instead, they often feature trickster animals, explain natural phenomena, and teach lessons about behaviour.South African animal fairy tales and folklore feature rich traditions from communities like the San, Khoekhoe, and Bantu. They star clever tricksters like the jackal and hare, powerful but foolish lions and elephants, and wise little tortoises who explain how the natural world came to be. Many fairy tales pursue a pedagogic objective. To mention a couple of examples: The jackal is the cunning, fast-talking survivor who loves outwitting bigger predators, while the tortoise is slow but wins thanks to endurance and hidden wisdom. The lion has the typical proud of a ruler and is often duped by animals which are smaller than him. ProMosaik is convinced that through fairy tales like the ones included in this book children can learn intercultural competence and communication by looking at different communities and their tales.Fairy tales from all over the world are very important to affirm cultural pluralism and to learn cultural geography and moral lessons from other communities around the globe. Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - In this publication ProMosaik Children introduces the readers to the world of Finnish Tales and Fables. They can be read by children as well as by adults. Here was once a man who was poor and lazy and he had a wife who was even worse. Her name was Jenny. Jenny was so lazy that it was an effort for her to lift one foot after the other. And in addition to her laziness she was an everlasting complainer. 'Oh!' she used to grunt in the morning, 'I wish we didn't have to get up!' and 'Oh!' she used to groan at night, 'I wish we didn't have to take our shoes off before going to bed!'One day when they were both out in the forest collecting faggots, Jenny said:'I don't see why we're not rich! I don't see why the King should live at his ease while we have to grub for everything we get! I just hate work!'Of course the trouble both with Jenny and her husband was not that they worked but that they didn't work. It was because they didn't that they had so much time to think about it.'Drat it all!' Jenny went on, whining, 'Adam and Eve are to blame for all our misfortunes! If they hadn't disobeyed God's commandment and eaten that apple, we'd all be living in the Garden of Eden to this day! It's all their fault that we have to moil and toil and hurry and scurry!''Yes,' the man agreed, 'it is, especially Eve's. Of course Adam was to blame, too, for he should have controlled his wife better. But Eve was the more to blame. If I had been Adam I shouldn't have allowed her to touch the apple in the first place.'Now it happened that the King who was out hunting that day overheard this conversation.'Ha!' he thought to himself, 'I've a great mind to teach these two people a lesson!'.…

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Many of the Ukrainian fairy tales collected here were published in Cossack Fairy Tales and Folk-Tales in 1894. The collection's stories from Ukraine originated from the originals by Ivan Rudchenko, Panteleimon Kulish, and M.P. Dragomanov. Bain's collection is believed to be the first translation from Cossack sources to English. Reading these tales, you may notice they share a similarity with Russian fairy tales and that is because they were collected prior to the collapse of the Russian Empire in 1917. A.H. Wristlaw also features several Ukrainian tales in his book Sixty Folk-Tales from Exclusively Slavonic Sources. The Ukrainian word for 'fairy tale' is (kazka). During the course of Ukrainian history, Ukrainians were in contact with nearly the entire Slavic world. Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu.

This booklet of Eritrean poems in English and German translation is the first publication from Tigrinya by ProMosaik in collaboration with Muenchner Poeterey. These poems come from a region characterized by strong political conflicts. The Muenchner Poeterey sees translations as serving the human right to information. Understanding what people say and how they express themselves in their respective condition humaine is important for all people because it can first show that we are not as different as they want us to believe. Poets ask and answer in their own way. Power always feels it its own powerlessness, its weakness, the lack of unconditional obe-dience. And this is that we call the power of the poets' powerlessness.…
