PRUNER, Johannes Evangelist (von), katholischer Theologe, * 25.2. 1827 in Nürnberg, ? 11.7. 1907 in Eichstätt. Nach einem 5jährigen Studium in Eichstätt und (1846-48) in Rom empfing P. bereits 1849 mit 22 Jahren die Priesterweihe, wurde 1850 Subregens am Bischöflichen Seminar in Eichstätt und 1852 ebenda auch Professor am Lyzeum (Promotion in Würzburg 1856). Er dozierte bis 1888 Moraltheologie, 1862 bis 1907 Pastoraltheologie, interimsweise auch Kirchenrecht. Von 1862 bis 1885 oblag ihm, als Nachfolger seines Lehrers J. Ernst, die Verantwortung als Regens für das finanziell wenig gesicherte Seminar und als Rektor für das Lyzeum. Während des Kulturkampfes kam der von P. geleiteten Priesterbildung in Eichstätt überregionale Bedeutung zu. P. wurde 1869 Domkapitular, 1885 Dompfarrer, 1889 Domdekan, 1891 Dompropst, 1893 päpstlicher Hausprälat und verwaltete 1905 nach dem Tode des Bischofs von Leonrod als Kapitularvikar die Diözese. 1906 erhielt er mit dem Ritterkreuz vom Verdienstorden der Bayerischen Krone den persönlichen Adel. Eifrig in der Seelsorge, förderte er marianische und eucharistische Frömmigkeitsformen.
