The scarce libretto of a tragicomical opera based around the traditional English puppet show, written by accomplished English composer Harrison Birtwistle. The scarce libretto for Punch and Judy: A Tragical Comedy or a Comical Tragedy Opera in One Act, written by pianist Stephen Pruslin, with the music and opera by English composer Harrison Birtwistle. In the publisher's original paper wraps, with two full-page diagrams, one of which showing the stage plan. An intriguing take on the traditional English puppet show, Birtwistle has transformed it into a tragicomical opera, with this particular pamphlet containing the libretto, notes for production and the script. The show particularly plays with the idea that toys and puppets can be 'more real than the real world itself', making statements about human nature. In the publisher's original paper wraps. Externally, browning to paper wraps, heaviest to the spine, with the odd small spot and mark. Pastedowns are generally bright and clean with a couple of small spots. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean, with a couple of faint spots. Good. book.
