Later boards with facsimile of the volume's title page mounted. = A very rare paper on deer, this being the general introduction, which is all that was published but it includes plates on antlers (uncoloured), and living animals (full colour). The French zoologist Jacques Pucheran (1817-1894) published more on mammals and accompanied the expedition on the Astrolabe (1837 and 1840), under the command of Jules Dumont d'Urville, together with Jacques Bernard Hombron and Honoré Jacquinot. The illustrations, drawn by Werner and engraved by Annedouche, are excellent. Published in the Muséum's Archives, volume 6. Uncut, unopened. Two uncoloured plates are a bit spotted, the others only marginally, a stain in the top gutter and margin, otherwise a very good, clean copy. Nissen ZBI, 3249.
