Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. First edition. xiv, 318pp. Illustrated in black and white with a full-color frontispiece. Rebound in dark brown morocco boards lined with gilt, the spine has raised bands lined and bordered in gilt creating six compartments, the second from the top has the title stamped in gilt and the fourth from the top has "Pulseton" in gilt, gilt lined turn-ins, and top edge gilt. An unfortunate result of this being rebound is that it lacks the original color illustrated endpapers. Bumping to the boards and wear along the edges of the spine with some cracking to the leather at the crown, notes penned on the front pastedown, offsetting to the front endpapers, and a thin tear along the gutter of the rear pastedown, still a sound and very good copy. Inscribed by the author on the front flyleaf with a tiny bit of it covered by the inner edge of the front free endpaper (a result of being rebound). Pulseton makes out the Inscription to his two friends and underneath his Signature he writes a "native greeting" and a "native farewell." Laid is a photograph, presumably of Pulseton in Africa. A unique copy.
