The author draws on historical and modern perspectives to illustrate the development of obstetrical theory and practice, from ancient understandings of menstrual blood to modern innovations in forceps delivery. The text explores the challenges and controversies that have shaped obstetrics, particularly the longstanding debate between physicians and surgeons over the appropriate limits of their respective roles in childbirth. Particularly useful to aspiring obstetricians is a section on the author's own method for determining fetal position. A significant contribution to the history of obstetrics, this book will fascinate medical historians and practitioners alike. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Brunet, VI, n°7593.
