Tours, Alfred Mame et fils, 1874 (date de l'approbation de l'Archevèché), belle reliure simple plein cuir, dos à 5 nerfs, toutes tranches dorées, gardes en soie avec marges décorées de dorures au deux contre-plats, environ 16 X 12 cm, 516 pages(papier vergé), richement illustré de gravures pleine-pageen N&B et chaque page de texte est entouré d'un décor qui ne semble pas se répéter. Les illustrations sont de A. Queyroy et ont été gravées par A. Gusman. Le premier plat présente une pièce métallique ciselée aux initiales CRL peut-être le nom du propriétaire de volume ?Notre exemplaire est en excellent état ne montrant qu'un minimum de frottement très discret. L'intérieur est sans reproche sauf quelques rares coins de pages cornées (4 ou 5).

Très belle impression du texte en noir et rouge, dans des cadres tous différents ornés de gracieuses compositions florales ou d'allégories religieuses. Très bel ouvrage.

In immaculate condition. Silk end papers with gilt dentelles to the inside boards. The work has 21 full page engraved illustrations and every page has a large engraved frame adorned with graceful floral compositions or religious allegories. The book is printed in black and red. Internally immaculate, the only flaw is that the red ink is slightly visible to the reverse of the page it is printed on. [xxiv], 516 pages. 15cm x 12cm. .

Inside front cover has 'Eiram' and 'November 1883' printed inside in gold - please see photos. Inside edges in gold. Paper slightly yellowed with age. Original bookseller name ('Cochard') in top left hand corner of ffep. front hinge paper cracked, but still firm. Back hinge cracked and back starting to come loose. Slight stains on rear free endpapers. Please see photos, and ask for more photos if required.

Small octavo 6x5 inches - very handsomely leather bound - signed in gilt on the front pastedown by the binder Auguste Petite and at the rear by the finisher Wampflug. Full period morocco with initials inlaid in red and blue to both boards, pastedowns of full deep blue leather with ornate gilt geometric designs, silk free endpapers, additional ornate extra endpapers, fine floral gilt gauffered edges, spine lettered in blind, held within a leather edged slipcase with a leather backed chemise.
