Softcover. First Edition, Third Printing. pp. 63. Slim 8vo., measuring 17 x 23 cm. Illustrated covers accompanied with dozens of captioned black-and-white humorous illustrations and caricatures capturing army life, accompanied with a short biography of the illustrator Bing Coughlin by Major R.E. Beamish. Rear cover lists origina…l price of "Twenty [Italian] Lire". Light unobtrusive spotting to the front cover, contents uniformly without blemish with clean, and unmarked leaves; very good+. See OCLC #51296523. From: the foreword: "Bing Coughlin in The Maple Leaf's "This Army" series has, it seems to me, captured complete the spirit and humour of the Canadians in Italy. Herbie, for us, will rank with Old Bill, Bert and Alf of the 1914-1918 war. I hope that all owners of this collection of Bing's cartoons will get as much pleasure from them as I have day by day in The Maple Leaf and that when we are at peace again it will be a reminder of the funny things that happen in war, the things old soldiers remember when the memories of danger, dirt and hardship have faded.".
