Signed
Belgrade: S. B. Cvijanovi?, 1928. Octavo (26 × 19 cm). Original pictorial wrappers by Mihailo Petrov; 35, [1] pp. Front wrapper lightly toned to upper edge; else very good. Scarce work by Rade Drainac (real name Radojko Jovanovi?, 1899-1943), a founding member of the Yugoslav Surrealist group and editor of the Dadaist journal "Khipnos", a "magazine for intuitive art" (1922-1923). He is considered one of the most original and fascinating voices of Serbian interwar literature; he began writing as a symbolist and developed a highly unconventional, expressly avant-gardistic style around 1922. After 1926, Drainac lived in Paris, where he survived by playing the violin as an accompaniment to silent films, before returning to Serbia shortly before the war. No. 23 of 60 copies from the limited print run, signed by the author (in total, 500 copies were printed). Cover by Mihailo Petrov.
