Buch. Condition: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - The inducible isoforms of the enzymes cyclooxygenase (COX 2), nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1) have generated great interest as possible therapeutic targets in inflammation. This book is the first publication to address the importance of all three enzymes and the consequences of their interactions to the inflammatory process. The book brings together overviews by leading researchers in the field of the current status of knowledge of COX, NOS and HO in inflammation. These overviews cover a series of new concepts in the mechanism of inflammation. Topics include inducible enzyme involvement in inflammatory processes including the role in vascular permeability, leukocycte migration, granuloma formation, angiogenesis, neuroinflammation and algesia. New findings from transgenic animal models are reviewed. Other chapters address the importance of these enzymes in inflammatory disease states including rheumatoid arthritis, atherosclerosis and multiple sclerosis. The possibility of selective inhibitors or inducers of COX, NOS and HO, and their use in the clinic is discussed. The subject matter of this book is of interest to rheumatologists, pathologists, pharmacologists, neuroscientists and anyone with an academic interest in the mechanisms of inflammation.…

Hardcover. First Edition. Sheep-backed marbled boards with leather corners and a gilt-lettered black morocco label on the front cover with the owner's name: "Mrs. Davis" (9-1/4" x 12-1/2"). Bound with a number of other pieces including "God Save the King" and "The Indians Complaint in Captivity," this is an early but not first issue of Smith's music that provided the setting for Francis Scott Key's poem, inspired by the sight of the United States flag flying defiantly over Fort McHenry after the British attack in September 1812: "The Star Spangled Banner." Whether Key wrote his verses with this melody in mind may be questioned, but The Star Spangled Banner was immediately adapted to it and, in spite of many attempts to modify the melody and lessen the demands of its range, it remains the official music of the National Anthem. "The Star-Spangled Banner" was recognized for official use by the Navy in 1889 and the President in 1916, and was made the national anthem by a congressional resolution on 3 March 1931. Short closed marginal tear at bottom of second page; contents clean. Short split to top front hinge but covers tight. Very Good. …

First Edition. composer]. TOMLINSON, Ralph, [contributor]. The Anacreontic Song, as Sung at the Crown & Anchor Tavern in the Strand. The Words by Ralph Tomlinson, late President of that Society. London: Longman and Broderip, [n.d.ca. 1782]. First edition, later issue with 13 Hay Market. Published after Longman & Broderip added the shop at 13 Hay Market in December 1782. Newly engraved, but contains the same pagination, key, disposition of elements, and layout as the first edition. "The first edition, published sometime between 1777 and 1781, since it is listed in a Longman and Broderip catalog at the British Library bearing the printed date 1781. Page 1 is blank; page 2, melody and bass in C major with first stanza; page 3, chorus and stanzas 2-6; page 4, melody for guitar and for flute, each with first stanza." (The Music of "The Star-Spangled Banner"-Whence and Whither? William Lichtenwanger). Folio (12 1/2 x 9 3/8 inches; 316 x 235 mm). 4 pp. Disbound. With crease at previous fold. Manuscript numbering on upper corners. Some very light soiling. Overall very good. "Francis Scott Key's poem, inspired by the sight of the United States flag flying defiantly over Fort McHenry after the British attack in September 1812, was set to John Stafford Smith's 1770s melody "To Anacreon in Heaven." The tune, originally with words by Ralph Tomlinson, was composed for the Anacreontic Society, a British music club that held its meetings at the Crown and Anchor Tavern in the Strand. Not until 1931 was "The Star Spangled Banner" declared the nation's official anthem by an act of Congress. Note the misspelling of patriotic in the subtitle in this first edition, one of only a handful of surviving copies." (The Morgan Library). HBS 68577. $3,000.
