Paper. Condition: Fair. No Jacket. Original Edition. RARE copy of this 46 page "Remarks" on education from the early part of the 19th century. Discusses the Foundation of Harvard College, early legislation in Massachusetts, the objects of education, the effects of education in modern Europe, the influence of knowledge upon social well-being, the influence of education upon the individual, the influence of moral education, existing defects in the system and the means for its improvement, the interference of private schools, the education of teachers, and the relation of ignorance to crime. The cover is faded and stained; the text itself has only minor stains. Paper.
