Adeline Aimée Rapin est née à "la Tour de Berthe" à Payerne en 1868 et morte à Genève en 1956 Aimée Rapin est une peintre Suisse née sans bras Au cours de sa vie, elle réalisa plusieurs milliers de dessins, pastels et peintures à l'huile d'une extraordinaire qualité. Cet ouvrage en apporte la preuve et contient notamment plusieurs des oeuvres perdues à jamais, parmi les 90 détruites lors de l'incendie du musée de Payerne. Elle joue du piano, écrit, pratique l'équitation, la danse, le patinage et surtout dessine adroitement avec ses pieds depuis son enfance. Mise en pension, puis sous tutelle à la mort de son père, elle suit des cours de peinture chez Théophile Bischoff à Lausanne, puis en 1884 à l'école des beaux-arts de Genève avec Henri Hébert, Hugues Bovy, Barthélemy Menn. Remarquée à l'Exposition universelle de Paris de 1889, elle reçoit ensuite de nombreuses commandes. Nombreux voyages en Europe et en Afrique du Nord. Membre fondateur de la Société de secours entre artistes et amis des beaux-arts à Genève (1887), plus tard Société mutuelle artistique. Son uvre compte environ trois mille tableaux, essentiellement des pastels (portraits, nus, natures mortes et paysages). Très belle iconographie en couleurs, agrémenté de 75 pages avec de nombreuses illustrations dans le texte en noir-blanc et de 13 dessins en couleurs. Biographie et photos d'époque. Dès l'âge de six ans, elle révéla un don exceptionnel en réalisant ses premiers dessins à l'aide de ses pieds. Ouvrage en parfait état Frais de port en supplément.
