Julius Carl Raschdorff war nach seinem Studium an der Berliner Bauakademie in Köln als Stadtbaumeister und als selbständiger Architekt tätig und lehrte von 1878 bis 84 als Professor an der TH Berlin; 1892 wurde er Dombaumeister in Berlin. Unter Mitarbeit seiner beiden Söhne Franz und Otto baute Raschdorff in Stilformen der Neurenaissance. Zu seinen Hauptwerken gehören das Wallraf-Richartz-Museum in Köln (185761, mit Josef Felten, zerstört), das Hauptgebäude der TH Charlottenburg (188184) und der Neubau des Berliner Doms (18941905)" (DBE).
