For this purpose, the present study was carried out to validate effect of dehydrated water extract of opuntia ficus indica on experimentally-induced hemolytic anemia in rats. In mechanistic study, the protective actions of test extract on red blood cells against hypotonic solution, verapamil and calcium free medium was evaluated. Present book results showed that the test extract recovers the blood parameter in curative and preventive study, while mechanistic study showed protection of RBC membrane when exposed to ruinous substances.
