A collection of scholarly articles on Jewish Chicago, published to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the College of Jewish Studies, now the Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies. Includes articles in both English and Hebrew. The English section includes a long demographic article on "The Jewish Population of Chicago, Illinois;" and shorter articles entitled "Aspects of Chicago Russian-Jewish Life, 1893-1915" and "I. L. Chronik and His 'Zeichen der Zeit;'" as well as "European Bibliographical Items on Chicago." The Hebrew section includes "Beginnings of the Eastern-European Jewish Settlement in Chicago;" "Chicago Hebrew Press;" and "Chicago Yiddish Press;" as well as the bibliography "Hebrew and Yiddish Publications in Chicago." 197 and 132 pp. Book is in very good condition, with the following exceptions: endpapers show discoloration, apparently from glue used on pastedowns; last page of English section dog-eared; pen checkmarks by a number of items in the English language bibliography; and gold stamping on cover and spine mostly worn off.
