Poems and prose poems by the esteemed stage actress, best remembered for her early role in Lillian Hellman's "The Children's Hour" and her highly-acclaimed tribute shows "Tallullah", "Affectionately Yours, Fanny Kemble", and "Women of the West". ACCOMPANYING LETTER: This was perhaps Helen Hayes's personal copy as it contains a letter to her on Eugenia Rawls's embossed stationery, containing references to Miss Hayes's teaching, to Miss Rawls's poetry book, to her forthcoming appearance on the Joe Franklin Show (to be followed by another "Tallulah" performance), and to responses to her poetry received from such theatre luminaries as Vincent Price, Katharine Hepburn, Mary Martin, and Portland Hoffa. CONTENTS: Biographies; A Moment Ago; A Certain Light; Touching This Shell; In Twilight Swings; A Christmas Greeting; 80 pages, with dozens of beautiful illustrations and a back-cover tribute from Helen Hayes. CONDITION: an unmarked, uncreased Very Good Plus copy with light shelf-wear and a touch of scuffing on the spine edges. The letter, written on both sides in red ink and neatly folded twice, is uncompromised. These rare items are now nestled in a clear, protective polypropylene bag. Signed by Author on Accompanyi.

This lot includes a book of poetry by Eugenia entitled In Twilight Swings, a playbill from the Joseph Jefferson Theatre Co. announcing Eugenia's narration of Memory of a Large Christmas, a signed and inscribed Christmas card, and a signed article written by Eugenia entitled Another Tallulah, referencing her fellow actor from the Broadway production of "The Little Foxes," Tallulah Bankhead. Bankhead would go on to become Eugenia's lifelong mentor. Eugenia Rawls (19292000) was an American actress born in Macon, Georgia, who was known for her work in film, television, and theater. She began her career in the 1950s and gained recognition for her performances in various stage productions. One of her notable roles was in the Broadway production of "Look Homeward, Angel" in 1957. In addition to her work in theater, Rawls appeared in several television shows during the 1960s and 1970s, including guest roles on popular series such as "Perry Mason" and "The Twilight Zone." She also had a film career, with appearances in movies like "One Potato, Two Potato" (1964) and "The Green Years" (1946), where she played the character Kate Leckie.
