Sheet Music. Condition: Acceptable. De Sylva, Brown and Henderson, Inc., Published 1928. Sheet music, 5 pp.; 30 cm; illustrated cover, golf balls ranked against a grass-green ground (from the 1929 golf musical Follow Thru). In Acceptable condition. Split along the spine fold and repaired with old tape, now yellowed; a few nicks and tears along the edges; mild soiling and toning throughout. Light pencil chord fingerings on all interior music pages. Complete. A hit song from the 1929 Broadway musical Follow Thru, a "musical slice of country club life" built around golf, with a score by DeSylva, Brown and Henderson, the leading songwriting team of the late 1920s. Introduced on record by Ruth Etting in 1928 and made famous by Helen Kane, the "Boop-Boop-a-Doop" singer who inspired Betty Boop, in 1929; sung on stage by Jack Haley and Zelma O'Neal and reprised in the 1930 Technicolor film. The song became a lasting popular standard. The cover, some fifty golf balls ranked against a grass-green ground, is a striking piece of Art Deco design. The back cover advertises the other Follow Thru numbers with musical incipits: Pompanola; Because You're Beautiful; You Wouldn't Fool Me Would You; Button Up Your Overcoat; My Lucky Star; I Want To Be Bad; Follow Thru; I Could Give Up Anything But You.
