Illustrated throughout with black and white plates and one color plate. In acceptable+ condition. Illustrated paper covers have light bumping and creasing to edges and corners with a bit of chipping to the paper at the top and bottom of spine. Light to moderate overall scuffing, toning and soiling to covers as well. Binding sound. Pages lightly toned but otherwise unmarked. Institutional collection catalog documenting the holdings of European paintings dating from circa 1300 to 1870 in the Fine Arts Gallery, Balboa Park, San Diego. Published under the auspices of the Fine Arts Society of San Diego, the catalog presents scholarly descriptions of works from the Italian Renaissance through the Baroque and later schools, with emphasis on Italian and Spanish painting. Includes historical notes on the Fine Arts Society, the formation of the collection, donor acknowledgments, and detailed catalogue entries with artist attributions, provenance notes, dimensions, and references. The catalogue was prepared by Julia Gethman Andrews and reflects mid twentieth century museum scholarship and collecting priorities in Southern California.
