A book of proverbs accompanied by colored line drawings by the author, Denise Remion who was married to French painter Claude Remusat (1896-1982). Illustrated heavy paper wraps exhibit signs of commensurate aging and wear. Wraps are gently darkened and exhibit scuffing, rubbing and stains to the surface with rubbing to the edges and a pronounced crease along the length of the rear top edge; front and rear cover interior exhibit dried, darkened residue from the binding tape. Please see photos. Spine is moderately rubbed with portions of the finish removed from the surface, ridges and ends which exhibit heavy bumping and slits. Corners are heavily rubbed with portions of the finish missing and mild creases to the area of the rear corners. Binding is secure overall though feels somewhat brittle and slightly compromised with the textblock being detached along 4" of the lower to mid portion of the front hinge resulting in exposed, slightly loose signatures while the rear hinge though remaining secured by tape appears slightly loosened and detached from the wraps; pages 8/9, 16/17, 24/25 exhibit a mild crack along the gutter. Please see photos for clarification. Half title page exhibits dried, darkened residue from binding tape. Illustrated title page is gently age-toned with mild foxing. Illustrations are unworn and remain free of any major signs of age or wear. Interior is gently age-toned with light foxing though overall the interior remains free of any major signs of age or wear. Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks. Book may exhibit additional minor signs of age or wear.
